Wattpad

Wattpad is presented as both a platform for Beth Reeks’s early writing and the place where The Kissing Booth found an exceptionally large teen-fiction audience. Reeks credits the platform’s team and its readers with helping her grow as a writer; her author biography records the story’s substantial readership and award recognition there.

Platform and Writing Community

Reeks describes writing on platforms such as Wattpad for about a year before the book’s publication, and singles out Wattpad in her acknowledgements. She thanks its team and the people who followed her, saying their support helped her find her feet as a writer. The acknowledgement frames the platform not simply as a place to post work but as part of the community that encouraged her development.

Readership and Recognition

The author biography identifies The Kissing Booth as Wattpad’s most-viewed and most-commented-on teen-fiction title at the time the biography was written, reporting 19 million reads and 40,000 comments. Those figures describe the scale of the story’s engagement on the platform, while also distinguishing readers’ sustained response from the recognition it received through an award.

Award and Significance

The Kissing Booth won Wattpad’s Most Popular Teen Fiction Watty Award. Together, the reported readership, comments, and award establish Wattpad as a significant early venue for Reeks’s work and for the story’s public reception. The acknowledgements give that success a personal dimension: Reeks explicitly includes both the platform’s team and the readers who followed her among those who helped her reach this point.
